Peninsula Transportation Alternatives is a non-profit organization dedicated to the idea that all modes of transportation (walking, bicycling, transit, and driving) should be safe and convenient in the San Francisco Peninsula region.

The San Francisco Peninsula is located between San Francisco and San Jose in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. Its transportation infrastructure includes highways, arterial roadways, local streets, bike lanes, multi-use paths, and many parking facilities for both vehicles and bicycles. But for many trips, Peninsula residents don’t have safe and convenient transportation alternatives – choices between different modes of transportation. For many trips, public transit is slow or non-existent. Bicycling and walking on many streets is unsafe due to the lack of bike lanes and sidewalks. And driving is often slow and frustrating due to traffic congestion. Residents also suffer from many traffic-related injuries and fatalities every year – motorists, transit users, bicyclists, and pedestrians included.

We’re working to change this by advocating for better street designs, improved transit service, and innovative educational programs. Will you join us?
